Bad Mommy Mudslinging

This is not the first time I’ve felt compelled to rip on Nadya Suleman, otherwise known as the Octomom. First, I ranted against her irresponsible choices as a parent and user of IVF . Next I found myself praying that PETA would do something useful and intervene to keep the Octomom from acquiring a pet . Lastly, and fairly recently, I became pissed off at an entire country for wanting to pay Suleman to exploit her fourteen children for a reality show whilst they’re paid sweatshop wages . I considered writing a post about Fox News’s two hour documentary about the Octomom but does anyone really trust Fox News as a viable source of information anymore?

Anyway, my latest annoyance/amusement comes from the cover of In Touch magazine. I was standing in line at the grocery store when I saw the headline: OCTOMOM SLAMS KATE. The subheading goes on to say, “Nadya Suleman calls Kate Gosselin ‘desperate for attention’ and labels her reality show a fake.”

This is perhaps one of the most epic examples of a pot calling a kettle black since the last time Bill O’Reilly called someone a douchebag.  In the article, Nadya Suleman says a lot of negative things about Kate Gosselin but my favorite is when she calls Kate’s reality show “exploitative and invasive.” Suleman believes that the Gosselin kids will need counseling and Suleman says that for her exploitative and invasive show, she’ll “do fewer episodes a year just to support them [her kids],”and that she wants it to be “intellectual and educational, not so superficial.”

Next up: how to turn your vagina into a clown car!

Based on the last report I heard about how much the Octomom’s children will make for the show , that’s not enough money to support them. It might be enough to pay for all her Starbucks and manicures, but enough to care for fourteen children? Definitely not, especially when you factor in the extra care her children with special needs will require. Really, I think that this is just another case of Nadya Suleman’s delusion kicking in. Not that it’s any surprise.

This isn’t to say that I’m a big fan of Kate Gosselin either. To be honest, I haven’t cared all that much about her or her show, Jon & Kate Plus 8. The only reason I’ve been hearing about it a lot lately has more to do with rumors of both parties cheating as well as an abundance of media coverage of Kate’s estranged jackass husband and his penchant for college students and Ed Hardy t-shirts. However, I do consider Kate to not be as out-of-her-fucking-mind as the Octomom because her sextuplets were a surprise (they’d intended to have one more child) whereas the Nadya Suleman intentionally had six embryos implanted (two became twins) while she already had six children at home.

“I think I need eight more.”

Frankly, I think that both sets of children are currently being over exposed to the media when what they need is some breathing room and a chance to be kids without paparazzi cameras constantly flashing in their faces. Their childhoods shouldn’t be for sale.

Too much?

At the very least, I want to stop hearing Nadya Suleman claim she’s “hotter” than Kate Gosselin.

*shudders*
